September 2018

During the month of September 2018, the planets Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus will be visible in the evening sky. (To see a closer view, click on the image.)

Venus is the extremely bright "star" visible after sunset above the western horizon--but note that it will be very low along the horizon; if there are any trees or buildings in the way, you might not see it. Jupiter will appear slightly less bright and above the southwestern horizon after sunset, Saturn is slightly fainter than Jupiter and will appear above the southern horizon after sunset, and Mars will be brighter than Saturn, rising right above the eastern horizon.
