October 2018

During the month of October 2018, the planets Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter will be visible in the evening sky. (To see a closer view, click on the image.)

Jupiter is the bright "star" visible after sunset above the southwestern horizon--but note that it will be very low along the horizon; if there are any trees or buildings in the way, you might not see it. Saturn is slightly fainter than Jupiter and will appear above the southern horizon after sunset, and Mars will be brighter than Saturn, appearing in the southeast.
